Discworld TTRPG Promotional - Animation Assets

In August of 2024, I was approached to create hand-painted animation assets for a promotional for Terry Pratchett's Discworld - Adventures in Ankh-Morpork TTRPG. The animation was done by Kagan Studios, and the producer was Shareef Dahroug, both whom were a joy to work with.

The Kickstarter launched in October of 2024. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/terry-pratchetts-discworld-rpg?ref=b2fc9h) earned over 3 million USD. It was also funded the same day it launched.

This is the promotional video that was created with my assets and the animation of Kagan Productions.

These were the studies I did of sea turtles to figure out what parts of the turtle I needed to have separated for the sake of animation.

These were the curtain concepts I passed to the producer I was working with to ask which they'd prefer.

The rendered curtain - the individual panels and beads were all put on separate layers to be easier to animate.

There were other backgrounds, but this is the one we went with. The stars, clouds and other objects in the background are also on separate layers so that the animator could add effects to them.

A'Tuin with their front fin down. All of these assets - even the heads of the elephants and the waterfall, sun and moon had to be on separate layers.
